On August 8, 2025, President Donald J. Trump hosted Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan at the White House, where the two leaders signed a joint declaration aimed at ending decades of conflict between Armenia and Azerbaijan.
The agreement marks a significant diplomatic breakthrough and creates an opportunity for both countries to move beyond long-standing confrontation toward greater stability, cooperation, and economic growth.
The White House also announced related bilateral economic agreements focused on trade, transit, energy, infrastructure, and technology, positioning the South Caucasus as a region with renewed potential for prosperity, regional connectivity, and expanded opportunities for the United States, Armenia, and Azerbaijan.

This breakthrough would simply not have been possible without President Trump’s personal engagement and his resolute commitment to peace,” said Prime Minister Pashinyan.
